I told you the storage industry was about to change. Sure, it’s been a very dynamic arena the past few years, but with our announcement this morning we believe it’s shifted once again. Specifically, how we look at storage needs to change. And we’re changing the perspective this week at Synergy.

We’ve had customers tell us that the performance of their virtual desktops when using WHIPTAIL as their storage platform actually exceeded the performance they had the when their desktop was directly in front of them. This achievement is only the start.

Today, we’ve introduced ACCELA, which carries on the tradition of our XLR8r product, and INVICTA—a very interesting and very unique scale-out, multi-tenant, multi-protocol, NAND flash storage array that allows a customer to scale from 6 – 72TB. INVICTA, when customized for specific needs, can support over 12,000 virtual desktops and maintain high performance.

These products further break the storage mold because they are a family. Companies have the ability to scale from ACCELA into an INVICTA. By providing this unprecedented investment protection for the customer a business’s growth is unlimited—the chains of storage are broken.

The old adage is true—seeing is believing, which is why we chose to unveil ACCELA and INVICTA at Synergy with live demonstrations that will inspire people to imagine a completely different way to access their data. When we start talking INVICTA’s performance numbers—up to 7 GB/s throughput, up to 650,000 IOPS and virtually undetectable latency—the way a business performs completely changes. Batch processing can be dramatically reduced, reports that would take hours or days can now run in minutes, database queries can be satisfied in time frames that have been beyond imaginable. And all of that can actually be done at a cost-per-transaction that’s lower than legacy storage. We want customers to be able to imagine an entirely new way to access and, more importantly, leverage the data that’s so important and vital to their businesses.
